A long time ago I had done a sketch of "Our Future" but at the time I had neither the motivation nor eagerness to paint it. I attemped it, sure, but every stroke that I painted seemed pointless and dull. It was a beautiful idea, but I didn't see how I could put in all the soul it should have. What could I do to make it vibrant, breathtaking? How could I convey the beauty of what we now take for granted and will soon be gone?I didn't know. So I hid the sketch away, buried it deep in drawer where it couldn't see the light of day. Out of sight, out of mind right? But it wasn't the case with this one. Time passed and at random moments and random days I would think "what could create a sense of purity about the scene?" and thought, maybe if the people were dressed in white robes, and the idea of light colors made me think that, just because the animals were 'extinct' didn't mean their memory had to be. So why not make them the brightest part of the picture, to make people stop for just a second and look, really look
, at the beautiful animals we're slowly pushing to extinction.
Then I saw the article for the "Speak Visual" contest and I knew, knew that "speaking visually" was the perfect definition for that sketch. I completely changed the sketch, sticking only with the idea, and all the details came together in my mind. And now, to see the finished painting that I never thought I would actually do, gives me a fuzzy warm feeling. Because my voice may have started slow and shy, but I definitely think, in the end, I managed to speak and say what I wanted through this painting.
Yay! ok, deep essay aside here it is! XD I seriously am bubbly with how this ended up though. bubbly
*sighs in satisfaction* So, everyone, if you like it support by favoriting please! : ) And if you've got time, leave a little comment saying whether you think I managed to pull off my message well or not?
EDIT: Because someone brought it to my attention I just thought I'd emphasize that this is the correct size ( 2550 px by 3300px ) It's just side ways : )
